Problem Statement
In this pandemic period, we are using lots of social media applications like whats app, Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Twitter, etc. for both personal and professional use, and it's difficult to handle a lot of messages.
So How to develop a platform that helps us to handle all this mess in one place which can
-
Manage all the messengers.
-
Personalize preferences.
-
Make it easy to understand.
-
Uses smart actions and gamification.
Comparative Analysis
Problems with the existing system
-
Need to log in multiple times and also difficult to exit from the app
-
Rather than showing preferences they hide the least preferred messages.
-
Rather than Snowball, all other apps do not use smart actions which makes them difficult to use.
-
Difficult to understand.
-
Not available on Android and IOS.
Solution -
-
Making a platform on Android and IOS which can give services like IM+ and Snowball Applications which are only working on Windows and Mac.
-
Log in only once.
-
Using smart actions creating a user-friendly platform and making it easily understandable.
Personas
Card Sorting
Card sorting is done with 5 users to ensure that what app flow they will have. So that its easy to identify the mind map of the user.
User Research
By Taking Interviews of 12 users from age 15-40+ we found lots of insights from ideas to pain points. For interviews, we use contextual inquiry to focus on uses observations rather than giving particular tasks to users. Topics we used for interviews are-
-
Social Media
-
Uses of messenger
-
Average messages and their priority
-
Experience
-
Pain Points
Affinity mapping showing organized user insights and analysis by finding patterns and themes.

Onboarding
Introducing users to the app by use of illustrations so that uses can get a clear idea about the app they are going to use.
Sign in flow
Using mobile numbers and OTP verification easily log in to the app so that users don't need to add so much information.
User Profile
Short user name and profile so that you can easily be identified by friends and colleagues.
Selecting preference and priority
It allows you to select the apps from which you want to see messages also you can set priority for them based on important and unnecessary messages. I add gamification to it so that process is rather fun than boring steps.
Main Screen and Menu
The main screen is divided into 2 parts 1 is for important messages and other messages are placed in unimportant parts rather than completely hiding them also it gives the capacity to search and also customization options in the menu.
Test
After taking testing with 5 users added the gamification in the selection and preference setting which makes the process more fun and rewarding rather than boring step by step.

Summery
In over 3 months while doing Social Crowd, we have learned about how to effectively use design thinking and UX design to create a good user experience. Also, I used some new techniques like gamification which didn't try before. Overall I feel really happy and excited while working on this app, and tried to minimize the issue of managing social media messengers for work and personal life. Also, the leading team gave me new experience in managing and maintaining teamwork.
As the next step, I want to focus on the following things-
-
Privacy Settings.
-
Editing Sent messages.
-
Deleting message without notifying receiver.
